Who was this man called "Sunbelt"? He was a genius in his own time. His name was Doug Groover. A dedicated and brilliant musician, a son and a brother. Even though "Spin it" was composed in 1980, it was so far ahead in it's time that it is still very popular today. It was a great 80's disco, and a wonderful dance song.
Loved this song... dancing with the little cha-chas (disco girlies) in the old neighborhood. Los Angeles,CA
RIP Doug & Sunbelt ....want to see that Doug's sound is still alive today ....check out the band Jupiter from Paris, France .... I love them but knew they reminded me of a sound from my disco youth. Sunbelt's / Dougs sound was truly timeless & awesome !.... - ROM
Exelent Song Spin it. It was hard for me to find out who was Sunbelt until I found this page. I heard this several times at the Discotheque when I was young at the 80's.
Thank you for posting on this blog. I've been looking for this song for ages! I never knew who the artist was or the title of the song. I love this song, ever since I was a child growing up in the 80s. I just knew a few lyrics and always tried Googling the little lyrics I knew, to no avail (that's because some of my lyrics were incorrect haha). Finally hit the bullseye! Thank you and thanks to Doug/Sunbelt for making my day! -Fan from Los Angeles, CA
I have an Original Disco Recording one-sided Pressing of "Spin It". It's an Orange Label with Black Lettering made in Sherman Oaks, CA plus the Prime Cuts Importe "12 Multi-track Album. No one seems to remember the one-sided Vinyl record but only the Prime Cuts. Got both in Mint condition. Perezchristopher6868@yahoo.com -Los Angeles CA
I have a picture and a business card of Doug's if you want them. Just tell me where to e-mail it to. Jerry Moates
